[Info] 01. General Rules

Needless to say, you must show your fellow RPers the appropriate respect when interacting with them. This is a mature site, therefore foul language is permitted. But, abusing that privilege will likely get you in trouble. That being said, please also be aware that respect beyond a certain degree is earned, not demanded. Know each other's boundaries and do your best to accommodate and tolerate them.

Truth be told, drama is rarely avoidable, but it is only welcome within RP threads. If you have a history of revelling in conflicts of your own making, you will have a hard time lasting on Revival Dawn.

While it is not required that English be your first language (hell, technically, it isn't my first language either), this is very much an English role-playing forum. Grammatical correctness and a degree of command over the English language are expected. This is to build an educated role-playing atmosphere and to keep misunderstandings during role-playing sessions to a minimum. Not to mention it's more fun reading something that is well-written and not littered with spelling mistakes and grammatical errors.

No concessions will be made in quality score assessments, even if your first language is not English.

Also, be warned - many perks (e.g. Haoshoku Haki, Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit, Logia Devil Fruit) and important world positions (from Yonkou to even rear admirals) can be locked behind Quality Score achievements through quests. Quality Scores are subjective to the quest grader, but they are awarded based on the player's writing and story-telling skills. One of Revival Dawn's main goals is to help improve and refine your writing skills.

As indicated in the previous rule, quests on Revival Dawn are assessed, and players are assigned a Quality Score. With each assessment, the quest grader will provide feedback and comments. Players are expected to take these comments into account when writing in the future.

If you are not interested in having your writing assessed, you can opt out of receiving Quality Scores. However, this will also exclude you from getting Quality Bonuses and meeting Quality Score requirements for many perks and positions.

This is not a strict requirement, but do keep in mind that advanced concepts and history sets are used from the world of One Piece, and you may have to research them in order to comprehend them if you do not read/watch One Piece.

The One Piece Wiki is your best friend in that regard. (Beware spoilers!)

The unbreakable rule of RPs (that is almost always broken). Controlling NPCs to a certain extent is acceptable, so long as the interactions between them are sensible and within the parameters of their abilities and personalities. However, you absolutely should not control characters that belong to other players. That includes declaring hits successful and role-playing the consequences of those hits on another character.

There is a system designed to assist hit detection; follow it. Hypothetical roleplaying is allowed, however, where you can describe what might happen if the hit is successful.

Meta-gaming is the act of exporting knowledge from you, the player, to your character. Your OOC knowledge should not influence your IC posts. This includes the act of reading thoughts. If you have read another character's internal monologue, this does not mean your character should know what they're thinking.

Revival Dawn has a dice-based combat system driven by a Discord Bot. This bot maintains all combat-related content.

The use of the combat system is not optional unless you're okay with significantly slower level progression and being locked out of earning many perks and important positions. So, please be sure the system appeals to you before putting in the effort to create your character.

We require you to have only 1 player character per account when roleplaying on Revival Dawn. However, you can create up to 5 accounts.

You may only create a new account once you've completed at least one quest with your existing characters.

Please do not abuse new account creation for a better Starting Bonus. If caught doing so, you risk account deletion and a permanent ban.

As such, you may also have only one Discord account on the RevDawn server and all of your characters must be linked to that account.

You must use the Legacy Revival system if you wish to remake your character. This applies to you even if you are a member returning to Revival Dawn after some time away.

There may be exceptions to this rule at the administrator's discretion.

Your account name (username) must be somehow related to the character you plan on making (first name, last name or both? Or even your epithet/title).

Numbers and symbols in the account name are not allowed.

You must use spaces in your account name if it consists of multiple words.

You must use capital letters where appropriate (and only where appropriate).

Your character name may also not have "D" as a middle initial, as it is reserved for those that earn a certain special perk that grants them the Will of D.

You may not use recognizable names from the series as your character's name (e.g. "Luffy", "Zoro", "Sanji", etc.).

If you have already created your username without any thought to your character, you may submit a name-change request in [discord]approval-requests[/discord] channel with your current and new usernames.

Revival Dawn has annual purges of inactive player accounts based on the specifications provided here. This system exists to encourage player participation and to help prevent idle players from blocking up potentially limited and coveted abilities and important positions.

You may only use a profile picture if you have entered a face claim or have drawn/commissioned art for your character yourself. Your profile picture also must be of your character.

Please do not create an account just to advertise. If you are here to post an advertisement to your website, you can do so in our Propaganda section as a guest user (without logging in).  You must also select the [Advertisement] Topic Type when creating your post.

Failure to abide by the requirements above may lead to your post and account being deleted.

You may not post explicit sexual content, whether in or out of character. Examples of explicit sexual content include images involving nudity and smut. You are allowed to fade to black and imply interactions of such nature.

Violent content is allowed on the forum due to the nature of canon One Piece. However, please avoid detailed gore. Use euphemisms instead in such cases where reasonable.

From time to time, depending on the activity of the site, roll calls are held for members who are still present. While ample time is given for members to respond to these roll calls with their characters, should they happen to miss the deadline for them, their characters may be subject to being deleted. Their participation in groups, quests, and events will either be retconned or written out by other members (or staff) depending on the plotlines they are in.

All your posts on the forum are subject to being archived or possibly deleted should you be inactive for an extended period. This forum should not be used as a historical reference for your creations. Should you wish to preserve a piece of writing permanently, you must save this on your own on another platform.

While this is not a rule, Revival Dawn is best experienced on a modern browser in desktop mode. Many quality-of-life features may not be accessible if you browse the site on Internet Explorer or mobile browsers (unless you use desktop mode). You may also run into visual and even functional bugs.

If you're using the mobile version of the site and want to switch to desktop mode, tap the hamburger menu (three horizontal lines) in the top right corner and then tap "Web version" in the menu.

Somewhere along the line, you may find mistakes in the mechanics or places where things have been left arbitrary. Do your best to accommodate these, and please use the #suggestions-box channel to help us better the site. However, be patient. Some things may have been left arbitrary on purpose, as there may not really be a perfect solution for it.

Please also accept that there may be rule changes applied at any given time. While we do our best to keep players informed of these changes, sometimes such changes might be abrupt.

Many submissions in Revival Dawn require in-line assessment comments from the administrator. We utilize an assessment framework that will be unfamiliar to new members to provide such comments. The images below will provide you with a rough idea of how to view them (and how to know when in-line comments are available in a post).
